Variety: 74110
Process: honey
Flavor impression: mandarin, fruit punch, white peach
Net weight: 150 grams
Resting: 30 days from roast
Best tasting: 35 to 90 days from roast
Ethiopian Taste of Harvest (TOH) competition lot is one of co:llab’s best offerings this summer. TOH is a coffee quality competition hosted by the African Fine Coffees Association (AFCA), and each year a panel of certified judges select top 5 coffees from each of the categories: washed, natural, honey (arabica) and robusta.
Grown at 1,900-2,100 masl in Jimma, Oromia, this Gera Farm lot ranked #2 in the honey category with an amazing score of 88.75. My first impression was a clean citrus cup when hot, but as it cooled, acidity began to burst and turned into a summer fruit punch. Fruit clarity is very high with notes of mandarin and white peach balanced by sugary sweetness. It is highly recommended to everyone who loves bright and punchy coffees.
